Sept 26-Oct 2, 2027

Six nights in a retreat house hidden in the rice paddies of Sri Lanka’s south coast. Movement under the palms, a boat through the mangroves, a week of connection & nowhere else to be.

Beach afternoons

Sun-kissed, salty-haired, and fresh mangoes. This is Sri Lanka’s wild south coast, and it’s all ours for a week.

Think: racing tuk-tuks down jungle roads, coconuts cracked open on the beach, cinnamon peeled straight off the tree, and crocodiles slipping past your boat in the mangroves. Then back to our hideaway in the rice paddies for a swim before dinner.

We’ll get sandy at Kabalana for sunset, lose ourselves in the lanes of Galle Fort, sweat it out in a jungle sauna before plunging into ice, and practice yoga with the paddies all around us. Pack a bikini, a sarong and zero expectations.

Seven Days,

Here's Your

Rhythm

Every morning starts with mat pilates or yoga in our open air shala, followed by a long brunch. Afternoons are for exploring. Some evenings we stretch and gather, other's we eat at a beachside cafe. The sound of the jungle is our soundtrack for the week.

Day One

Sunday

Arrive + Settle In
private retreat in the maldives

Touch down in Colombo. We will pick you up and ride down the coast to our hideaway in the paddies. Dive in the pool, claim your bed, then gather in the shala for our opening ceremony and first dinner together.

Day Two

Monday

Sea Turtles + Galle Fort
Small desert island with palm trees in the Maldives

Pilates at sunrise, followed by breakfast. Then we head out on a day trip to Galle Fort to walk cobblestone streets, tiny boutiques and eat lunch inside of old city walls. Oh, we just might stop to swim with sea turtles on the way (weather permitting). A light stretchy yoga before dinner.

Day Three

Tuesday

Beach town
Women doing pilates on the top deck of a yacht at sea

Morning yoga and breakfast. Then we head to town for lunch and exploring. Spend the day shopping boutiques, sipping iced coffee and finding the perfect sarong. Back home for a yin yoga session as the sun goes down.

Day Four

Wednesday

All To Yourself
Friends tanning and playing cards on a yacht deck

Yoga & brunch, then the day is yours. Book a massage, read by the pool or walk to the beach. At golden hour, join us for a walk through the paddies to the village temple. We will Tuk Tuk to town together for a sunset dinner.

Day Five

Thursday

White Tea & Sea Safari
Clear turquoise water off the side of a boat in the Maldives

Start with a tasting of rare white tea, grown just down the road. Then it’s sun loungers, swimming and lunch at a beach club. Late afternoon, we head out by boat on Koggala Lake, past mangroves, monkeys and crocodiles, to a tiny island where cinnamon is still peeled by hand.

Day Six

Friday

Botanical Workshop
Lobster dinner served on board a yacht in the Maldives

Morning yoga, then a botanical workshop where you’ll blend your own herbal hair oil and body butter from Sri Lankan plants. Spend the afternoon hanging, swimming and getting ready together before we head out for a farewell dinner at sunset. We end the week with a closing circle by candlelight.

Day Seven

Saturday

Farewells
Lobster dinner served on board a yacht in the Maldives

One last swim, one last breakfast, a lot of hugs, then back to Colombo.

The Week

A private, retreat house in the rice paddies.

For six nights, the house is ours and only ours. The rooms are open and airy, finished in terrazzo and teak, an infinity pool looking straight out over the paddies, and an open-air shala up in the palm trees, where we’ll start every morning.

It’s a 20-minute walk to Kabalana Beach for sunset, and a few minutes by tuk-tuk to the cafés and boutiques of Ahangama.

(FAQ)

Where do I fly in to?

Fly into Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. We’ll pick you up there and drive down the coast together, about 2.5 hours to the house.

What’s the weather like in late September?

Warm, green and lush. Expect highs around 85°F, some showers, and plenty of sun in between. The towns and cafés are quieter than in high season, which we love. The ocean is rougher this time of year, so we’ve built the week around the land, the lake and the beach club rather than surfing.

How do deposits and payments work?

A $350 deposit holds your spot. Pay the rest in full or spread it out with a payment plan. The balance is due 30 days before the retreat. You select your payment plan at checkout.

Can I sign up alone?

Absolutely, most guests do. Our retreats are designed to make solo travelers feel instantly at home - and you will leave with new friends!

What’s the food like?

Meals at the house are fully plant-based and cooked fresh. Then we will eat out everyday as well so there will be plenty of variety. We will collect all allergies and dietary restrictions before we go!

Who else is going to be there?

Women just like you: curious, a little adventurous, and ready for a week that’s more than a beach holiday.

I’ve never been to Sri Lanka. Is this a good first trip?

It’s the perfect one. We handle everything from the moment you land in Colombo until we wave you off a week later: transfers, bookings, tuk-tuks, the lot. All you have to do is show up. You get the wild, off-the-beaten-path version of Sri Lanka without having to figure any of it out yourself.

"I loved my time in Thailand with Habitat Retreats! I didn’t know anyone going into the retreat and was a little nervous, but I think this is a great way to travel if you want to do something similar to “solo traveling” in a way that feels safe (especially as a woman!) and with new people that have similar interests!

Kennon and Carrigan did so much research to make sure this trip was a success and had a great and flexible itinerary laid out for the group so I didn’t have to worry about anything leading up to the retreat! Although this was a group trip, there were plenty of chances to spend time alone or break off from the group to do your own thing. I’m already excited to sign up for future retreats with Habitat and can’t wait to travel with them again and hope to bring some of my friends to join me."
